7 miles up the canal today
    Always makes me titter
I'm not sure if it's a Newport or South Walian idiom, but "up the" and "down the" are well used in this house. Like, if we want a posh coffee we go "up the Celtic".

It reminds me of Harry Enfield's Stavros character, who was always taking his wife to football "up de arse', inni'"
'up the Celtic' sounds like a posh 'Centre Parcs'.
It can be, it has a "ropes in the treetops" course type thing. It's also, apparently, "the UK's Best Hotel", the Celtic Manor. It always reminds me of The Shining whenever I drive home from work though.
I can fairly safely state that that ISN'T what "Centre Parcs" is a reference to.
Google "mumsnet centre parcs" if you want further explanation.

    Back on the running theme
490+ 15 puts me into the 500k club!
    505.
I've led such a sheltered life! Well, sheltered from mumsnet anyway.

    5 miles around the quarry.

Well my first C25K session wasn't bad, it wasn't fun, but it wasn't bad.  Saying that I covered 1.3 miles in the time.

I've only got to do one more session then I can stop.

    Now time for breakfast.

5 sweaty miles on Tuesday and 7 very sweaty miles today. It really is too hot for me at lunchtimes now, it's affecting my running and I still haven't cooled down completely.

I did a 10k on Tuesday and a 7k today so that makes 152k for the year so far.

    Week 1. Session 2

Well that's another 1.4 miles under my belt. In total works at about 4 ½ km.

I've really got to get my arse out earlier in the day.  It's too warm.

All I've got to do now is beat the next session.

    257 + 11 + 11 = 279k

Two slow runs - getting the miles in, but I'm not sure how much good it's doing me at a slow pace.

Just did the Vitality 10k in London- time was just under an hour, which I'm pleased with.

    29th May: 638km + 10km = 648km

A long slow one up a gorge this morning, then up a 1,000 foot hill (which sounds so much higher than 350 metres). Path not well suited to a fast pace, but the scenery made it worthwhile.

Just went and picked up my race number for the 10k on Sunday.

Bricking it a little to be honest, even though I've run that distance and more, it just seems a bit more real.

Good luck - don't go out too fast, enjoy yourself, and remember to breathe!

    Nice one fella.

I'm thinking about putting in for a 10k later in the year.

Had a bit of a weird experience this week.

Worked out a new 7k running route I was really excited about and went out to do it on Saturday morning. I think I might have made a screw up because the route started at a big hill and trying to go up it without any warm up made me instantly feel like shit so I stopped and walked half way up it. From that point on I just couldn't get into a rhythm (my pace was yo-yoing all over the place when I checked back on runkeeper) and my heart rate kept spiking up to 180 so I had to keep stopping to calm it down.
In the end I had to stop after about 5k went into a Tesco and bought some water, sat under a tree for about 10 minutes. After that I did the final 2k home which was fine, but I was a bit bummed out about the whole thing.

Figured I needed to get back on the horse so I did exactly the same route today (minus the hill which I walked up before starting) and powered around it no bother at all. (quite slowly though because I was a bit nervous given the previous run)

Two lots of 7k, puts the total for the year now up to:  166k
