not in the market myself but definitely no bargains to be had with the world and their dog throwing a bid in

guitars just setting there getting relisted time afrer time.
Just seen a couple of Hofner senators at £650. What on earth is happening.
are people just getting bloody greedy. Or are they over paying in the first place n then trying to get there money back.
I think many items hi-lighted on FB after the auction that have been purchased by dealers, tend to be very specialist, or expensive vintage based models anyway, like the 58 Strat at Guitar Village - Some quoted a 8K hammer price and a 15K selling price - take into account 20% commission + vat but Guitar Village have speculated to accumulate and I don't know if it is worth 8K or indeed 15K - Yet if it is allegedly worth 15K, then a prospective private buyer should be able to out bid a dealer, as sooner or later the dealer will bale out of the bidding as there is no profit left in the deal
The auctioneers obviously want to maximise their prices and they now have a good selection of stock each auction, that they can now run with one every 3 months or so - 3/4 years ago stock was thin on the ground for them
I agree now that many hope to get a certain price, that is over speculated - So they just keep trying and trying - so do they eventually give up, or drop the price significantly
Loving wife: "I can't get in the spare room because you've got 18 guitars in there."
Husband (to keep the peace): "Ok, I'll sell some of them"
Husband then puts some of them on Ebay at grotesquely inflated prices like £500 above the market value.
It does not sell.*
2 months later:
"You've still got 18 guitars in that room. I thought you were selling some."
"They have been on Ebay for 2 months but not sold. I'll reduce them to get a quick sale."
Reduces price by £100 so now £400 above market value.
It does not sell.*
2 months after that:
"You've still got 18 guitars in that room. I thought you were selling some."
"They have been on Ebay for 4 months and I've reduced the prices and they have still not sold. You don't want me to sell them for knockdown prices do you. The market is very soft at the moment. My fellow GAS addicts on the Fretboard told me that. Maybe I should keep them for a bit and try again when the market recovers."
*If it does sell at the inflated price then it's a win anyway as you now have more GAS money.
Try explaining to these prize pricks that the same guitars/amps/effects have been for sale for the thick end of two years in some cases and that the *sold* price on eBay is fairly easy to find, and a far better idea of what something may be worth (minus fees) and you get reported to the mods for being "aggressive" or for commenting on pricing... no, its not.
