Um, you guys don't really think I just.....?

I need to get more wisdoms....
I'm dipping in/out here whilst doing jobs so missed the 'irony' - oooops -
    @miserneil - look what you've started!
Must be honest...your little thread @Bridgehouse and @miserneil has proven almost as entertaining as the auction! Well done gents.  ;)
There were a few brief moments where I thought I'd accidentally clicked the wrong button on the auction website..
you wait till you get your next visa bill

The 55 Refin SC has amazed me.

That was so little a 55 it's almost wrong to call it that.

Only 'vintage' parts was the pickup, body was refin (and serial number lost?) bridge and pots were changed.

So basically, a lump of wood of some age - and a P90. Does that mean 50's P90s are now worth 2k on their own?

(Good to know since I have two sitting in a guitar at home! :) )

I actually looked at the 58 P at the guitar show. In the right condition, it might have just been worth a punt - not a 9k punt, but close.

However, it would have to be a display-case queen as it really was clapped out.

    The auctioneer's gavel?

I think it was an original 1923 model... but with a replacement handle and a modern repro hammer head.

You don't win auctions....you just paid more than anyone else wanted to! Thinking of it as winning makes it a 'competition' and that's where it all goes wrong! :)

Wow someone just paid £1800 plus fees for one of those not so rare 40th Anniversary '54 Strats! Crazy, there's always plenty of them for sale for much less on the net. For that you can buy a Custom Shop. Auction frenzy, and everything seems to be selling now matter how shitty it is. If @guitars4you had some of these in stock they'd still be there years later. Maybe you should start your own live auction Mark and watch punters pay more than retail.

I guarantee most of the punters at the auction will have been bedroom dealers. Watch out for most of these guitars appearing on eBay and the like at vastly inflated prices...

As a matter of interest does anyone know how much the Ricky 369/12WB sold for?

How shit do you think something would have to be before GH would refuse to have it in the auction? I'm tempted to raid the darker corners of the studio and offload it all.
