@Bridgehouse bought the Cliff Williams bass for £9200. Nice one mate....

    And I'm out.
I predict a NVBD thread and a new Classifieds thread in tandem :)

(Once I've spent 2 weeks making it vaguely playable)

I know most folks on here think I'm stupid, but I can safely say there are far more stupid people in the world now I've seen those auction final prices...

If i could be sure of these prices I'd knock together a few partscasters and pop them up for auction next month. Actually sod it, I'd put every piece of music equipment I currently own up and then I'd walk away rubbing my crooked little mits with glee!

I saw a similar situation once and I asked why and got an easy reply 'I've always wanted one and it had everything I wanted ' - so go with it and be happy - enjoy it - I'm sure you will

Must be honest...your little thread @Bridgehouse and @miserneil has proven almost as entertaining as the auction! Well done gents.  ;)

I used to buy a lot from auctions in my job but when internet bidders came on the scene prices rocketed and you literally couldn't buy a thing at anything remotely like trade price. When I retired the auction scene was at the point where the main dealers were making more profit from putting their part exchanges in the auction than they were out of selling the new car in the first place. People get trigger happy, private buyers especially, they often forget the auction fees too in the heat of the moment. There IS no sense in it. A regular Custom Shop '60 Strat goes for £1450 plus £300 of fees....whoopee you can get one anywhere for that and a lot less via a private sale. The last mint '82 LP Standard sold on Reverb for £1679. It will be fun watching some of these surface again.
Just noticed that the Hugh Manson Tele sold for less than some of the partsocasters!  £260 plus fees wasn't bad even if it was a little out of fashion looking.

There were a few brief moments where I thought I'd accidentally clicked the wrong button on the auction website..
