Going from the XLR outputs to some XLR inputs could make a difference because the connections are then balanced, which improves noise rejection. In some rooms this will be audibly less noisy, in others (probably most) it won't make an audible difference.
It is quite possible that the inputs on a given speaker will behave differently, of course.
Weirdly I've downloaded a free preset and it doesn't seem to sound anything like the video the creator posted. Much duller and less alive sounding. Wondering if my interface is to blame? I've always had a bit of a problem getting great tones from any modelling software (apart from s gear 2). Still, sounds way better through my MR5s than the rack one I tried through headphones a while back!
the chap put forward the notion of paid content. Definitely interesting and most definitely controversial....
Hope it ain’t that!

So far I've had much better luck with using my amps DI out and adding an IR in Reaper - think a reactive load box may be the way forwards for me to be honest. I've even had better tones using the Marshall CODE 25 usb direct recording feature, so I'm not ruling out the possibility that my interface is just shit for DI guitar. I'd have to try out a proper Helix to be sure it's not something wrong with the inputs of my interface.
If it is pay to play, then it will have to be an amazing update to be worth it. i'm not really wanting for anything and those 4 fx loops allow me to get what little things I do want in there (better reverb, better pitch fx)
Maybe they added patch compatibility with Ax Fx - now THAT would be controversial
I'm reasonably sure I know what the "controversial" part is. I'm not entirely sure why it'd be considered so, but as I've said before...it makes it blindingly obvious what their next Helix-family product is.
As for paid content...I doubt it. After all, that's part of what killed the Eleven Rack, and I'm sure nobody really wants to go there again. You've also got to consider that the Helix is already pretty damn comprehensive, so they're going to be pretty limited in the amount of revenue they can grab that way; far better to attract new customers with an expanded range based on free updates, which is exactly what they seem to be doing.
I want to stress, I genuinely don't know if this is the case or not. I only know one thing about the update and paid for stuff isn't it! Just being clear on that one.
I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.
Still good to know. Line 6 has made good on every helix promise so far. Delighted to hear the ride continues
