The safety car often introduces a disadvantage to a driver who has painstakingly built up a lead only to see that lead eroded through no fault of his own.
Those are the rules I'm afraid.
Stopping diving into the pits during a safety car period to gain an advantage may help, but then there are so many different scenarios possible.that it becomes difficult to police.
How do you maintain the correct timed gap for the drivers following the lead car at the instance a safety car incident occurs?
