Do you like The Pretty Reckless, by the way? Certainly worthy of a mention here.
and... with a bit of help from Tom Morello...

All-girl-musician bands were seen as a bit of a novelty in the 70s, mind you the music biz liked any novelty IIRC.
Were guys that more interested in forming bands? Was it one of those blokey things where guys like to adopt a complicated hobby, like playing guitar (whereas learning classical instruments would be driven by parents and schools, and I'd assume more evenly balanced male/female - hence orchestras looking a lot more mixed).
I criticize most male guitarists' albums - very few top guitarists are good songwriters.
Even my favourite players have mostly produced albums that are patchy at best for the material.
Were there always lots around, but youtube and social media makes it easier now to get well-known, were labels disinterested in them before, or mostly-male bands didn't want to play with them, or are more women learning to play nowadays?
Check out some older videos of them in their heyday.
There are a few recent youtube clips (Guitarist Magazine perhaps) with Tommy Emmanuel, that are astonishing.
