First gig tonight for my side project.  A chance to do some older material (50's and 60's) with a singer guitarist + backing tracks.  Not only do I get to do a Shadows number for the first time but I'll also be singing lead on about a third of the set - your thoughts should go out to the audience.

The Surgeonaires are playing a one-hour set from 4 o'clock this afternoon at the Duke of York Hanwell W7 3SP as part of their "off-hootie" event . But if you don't like us there are a whole load of other bands to watch in different venues as part of the Hanwell Hootie. A lot of competition for us - but bring it on.

  • Band played our first show this evening. Still have the adrenaline in my veins so I can't see myself sleeping.
Just so people are aware. I have no idea what any of these words mean.

Congratulations, how did it go?  (the gig obviously, not how did you sleep?).

I've been gigging for more years than I care to remember and I still don't sleep after a gig.  In fact, very often, I'll make up the spare bed before a gig so as not to disturb my wife with my tossing and turning.

The adrenaline is the reason I do this, it's certainly not the money.

Went really well yeah thanks. Some polishing to do still, especially on my backing vocals which is still alien to me but went good. Especially considering I only met the bass player in the car park about 45 minutes before we went out.

Finally got to sleep about 4.30 this morning, then was up for work at 6. Now the adrenaline has died down I feel like a hollow shell of a man.

2nd gig with my 'side project' tonight.  Limelight will be playing at Bryn Labour Club, Ashton-in-Makerfield and, be warned - I will be singing lead on a few numbers.
