Going to watch my favourite 80's guitarist Nik Kershaw, week after next - really looking forward to it!

What have you got on the horizon? *

(* Assuming there is a horizon)
I'm jealous, that'll be awesome. Where are you seeing him - is it one of the more 80's themed shows, or his more recent stuff? Me and the wife saw him at a tiny pub in Portsmouth just doing an acoustic show, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. To Be Frank is one of my favourite albums ever...such a good songwriter.

Aside from that, off to see Extreme in December with Dan Reed Network supporting. Not sure which I'm more excited about :)
Extreme will be great! Nik's is an acoustic show, in Union Chapel. I hope he does songs off To be Frank and Radio Musicola as well as Riddle and HR. We're really looking forward to it I must say. I love his acoustic versions, they make you hear the chords in a totally new light. It always seems amazing to me that you can play The Riddle on an acoustic and it's like a fresh new song but still 100% recognisable.
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

ace, I reckon you'll love it. He did a load of the old stuff when we saw him (I think just after 'You've Got to Laugh' was released) so if it's anything like that it'll be amazing.

  • The Surfing Magazines, in Cambridge next week.

Half of the band is also 2/3 of The Wave Pictures, who I saw earlier this year and were fantastic.

The Dowling Poole in a week or so. Could not be more excited.
that'll be awesome too. Haven't they got a new album coming out? I still remember the Honeycrack album being a favourite when it came out. Just got the new CJ Wildheart one, which is also great.
I'm not sure - they released one last year, which is utterly brilliant, and have released some singles since then as well. I just can't wait to see them - I missed them at Ginger Wildheart's Birthday Bash in December. Jon Poole is one of my favourite musicians ever and Willie Dowling is a masterful songwriter.

Other upcoming gigs I haven't booked yet but will be trying to - SikTh and Frost*.

I've seen a few bands over the summer, which has been really good. I definitely find going to gigs inspires my own drive to get out there and play. Now my only currently booked ticket is to see Steven Wilson in Feb 2018
