@Reverend I'd only really be going for Testament if I was paying myself. And then primarily for their, ahem, legacy. :I'll get my coat:

Nils Frahm at the Corn Exchange, Cambridge, is my next gig, but that's not until February.
Sadly, very few decent bands play my neck of the woods any more, and being ill pretty much rules out slogging it to London.
Plus I've absolutely had it with people talking all the way through gigs. It ruins the moment completely for me and I'd rather just not go. Well done people, you've won. I hope you're proud.
They pay to see a live band and have a good old natter rather than take in the whole experience and they don't even shut it when there is a quiet part . Example - Glenn Hughes happens to have a bit of a voice , so he sings on his own without the  band - amazing to hear .....Apart from the ignorant people carrying on chatting  , thanks for that .
They should stick to pubs because they don't appreciate live music .
But they don't wind me up at all !
God I hate people like that so much

At LCD on Saturday a couple of people had the audacity to push their way in front of me (I was in the second row) and basically shout into each other's ears for the rest of the gig
    Stop crying, start buying

I saw a friend's band last night at The Borderline, London on the last night of their UK Tour (Cats in Space - classic rock, retro with big arrangements, some pomp, glam and big vocal harmonies) - they were superb.

Well, they've just landed the opening slot for the forthcoming Deep Purple/Europe Tour and so I'll be off to one of those shows.

Never lose sight of your dreams and it's never too late. These guys have some pedigree with the average band age around mid-50s and this is a fairly new-ish project but it's all happening for them and they've already supported Thunder, played Cropredy, Ramblin' Man and Hyde Park in the last year.

    Recommended!

Looking forward to Metz in Bristol, end of November.  Loving their new album - quite taken with how they've injected some Kinks into the wall of grunge/punk noise.

Just back from HRH AOR Festival in Wales where the main headliners were Night Ranger and Skid Row. Both were excellent and it was fabulous to see Brad Gillis playing up close and Keri Kelli was no slouch, either.

Dare were great and Vinny Burns was on fire with a Les Paul, but there were many other excellent British bands that weren't household names, like Blood Red Saints and Iconic Eye but look out for Aaron Buchanan and The Cult Classics. The guy has an amazing voice and is a very good showman and there are many similarities to Freddie Mercury in both stage craft and voice but he's got a cracking band behind him.

The standard of musicianship was high and most of the guitarists and sounds were staggeringly good, and the players were so young!!!

Ibanez, Jackson, Charvel, Suhr and both Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls seemed to be the order of the day on the guitar front and there were a fair few Kempers on display.

A bit of a trek for me and my mates but we were truly taken back to the 80s. The event is really well done and the main venue is a great size. The sound guys delivered a great sound in there and I've just heard that the sound at Shepherd's Bush, London tonight for the Nightranger and Skid Row gig was a bit pants - shame as it was great at HRH.

Recommended venue, whether for this or the Prog or any other HRH events.

Next, I'm looking forward to Toto on the 1st April at The Royal Albert Hall

In the last couple of weeks I’ve seen British Sea Power and the Handsome Family. The Handsome Family are touring because it’s 20 years since their seminal album “Through The Trees” was released. Never knew that Jeff Tweedy lent them the equipment to record it in the draughty Chicago warehouse they were living in at the time. Bought a vinyl copy and got it signed by Rennie, who is extremely cool and probably the funniest woman I’ve ever met. Sad fanboy.

Nada Surf at the Portland Arms, Cambridge in April. It'll be great seeing them play such a small venue!

After that, it's Chameleons Vox at Esquires, Bedford, in June.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....
