Yeah, I’m gonna be honest I’m not sure if I’d gone ahead if I’d realised how long it would actually take vs the initial estimate! But it’s nice now! 

We kept our fridge useable in a different bit of the house, but having no cooker or sink for 3 weeks SUCKS

We thought we’d be able to keep the fridge going for a bit, but our builders helpfully broke it while removing the cabinets (it was an integrated one). We’ve had an extension built at the same time, great fun…

My happy for today is a doofus moment; I thought either my streamer or its remote was broken; it responded to some buttons some of the time, some of them none of the time, and most of them if I took the batteries out and put them back in. I tried lots of things, no real progress. I then tried new batteries in the remote.

You may all mock me, but my remote works now.

After yesterday's annoyance at work,  today I am  painting the gingerbread house ready for the Christmas grotto...

I saw Nile Rodgers & Chic last night. Absolutely cracking gig from some of the best in the business and a genuinely legend of modern music. Highly recommended if he's in your neck of the woods any time soon!

I got our contracts changed at work. For the better!

We were bought a few years ago, and we're now getting on with fully merging. Our contracts were far more generous than the company that bought us - all of which got transferred over. The other side, however, get three duvet days a year.

We also had a tradition where if you worked one of the three days between christmas and new year, you got the other two off for free. This they tried to end, saying that it was never in our contracts.

It turns out the use of the phrase "implied term via custom and practice" strikes fear and panic into the HR lady.

We now get the duvet days, and the ability to carry holiday over. And an agreement that we can use all three duvet days in the winterval break. Yay me.

On the topic of happy happenings, I’ve just managed to renegotiate my Sky contract in 5 minutes with minimal aggro, and saved myself £7 a month. I’m still in shock!
