That's like wanting a TV series that you don't like to end. If you don't like it, change the channel/thread.

It's fun to poke fun at Emp's strange choices and conflicting requirements, but Emp is playing along well enough and some of us are enjoying the bantz.

Besides, as others have mentioned, this is an exaggeration of the thought processes and internal conversations many of us have before making a major purchase.

You're a knowledgeable guy and have made some solid contributions to this thread. However a move back to the lighthearted banter would be a decent move, as opposed to use this as an easy opportunity to attack Emp.

Not that I'm any authority, I'm just saying it would be *nice*.

    Be nice.

I have only pointed out his decisions doesn’t help him buy a car, some of these are so obvious they shouldn’t need to be pointed out but in this case I am not sure he knows he is facing those problems because he caused them.

I tried ti to make fun of it but there’s so long a single note joke can last.

please just buy a car already and stop messing around.

TBH the "temporary car" could be even more epic than the actual car! It could literally range from a 1st gen Audi TT to a Skoda Yeti converted for wheelchair access

@RaymondLin to be fair you did get some sharp replies, however we can all relax safe in the knowledge that in all likelihood Emp bought a 2007 Focus three months ago and is stringing us along for the lolz.

Gratifying to know I wasn't the only one to have thought of this.

Really..  I'm getting a car.  I don't know what yet, but it's just going to be the temporary one.  I'm getting it this weekend.

Instead of posting here just go and buy a fucking car
    Too cramped.

Much better to get a fucking van - you can get a mattress in there

Right....  this is the Final Countdown...  I absolutely MUST get a car tomorrow.  Under no circumstances can tomorrow evening find me car-less.  I'm frantically scouring the usual sites and, in my panic, am likely to make a strange choice.

Right now, the lead spot is taken by a flourescent lime green Seat Ibiza.  It looks nice from the outside and has lovely wheels, BUT.... and this is the bit that's killing me....  the interior looks like it was designed by the Soviet Socialists People's Republic Department of Austerity.  If ever there was a car that looked rather sexy on the outside and positively minimalist on the inside, this is it.

    FFS....  I can't sit in THAT !

If it carries on all summer I think a certain member may spontaneously combust.

There's also a silver MX-5 going....   but, as bloody always, the MOT history is littered with advisories for corrosion.

    I need your helps!!!!!

Find me a car, under £6,000 (yeah, it's all changed), under 80,000 miles, NOT BLACK, under 2.3L, that isn't a Fiat or French.  I'm not after sporty, I just want a reliable motor that won't be in insurance group 472, does more than 30mpg and looks OK - within 20 miles of Swansea or Llanelli.

There's an Auto Diesel Pug 308 going too.

I find myself a little excited, but I don’t quite believe it. What has changed? Has the work bus/train been cancelled?? You know it’s a mistake to rush into these things right? ;)

I'll be back again in another few pages. Pretty confident that Emp still won't have bought a car.

    Stop lying already.

i can help you if you are serious but your criteria make it a joke.

For a temporary car your top criteria is reliability, not a colour, who cares if it’s ugly, it’s a  temporary car, unless that’s a lie too.

I'm much preferring this way of searching !  Thanks for the help guys...  keep 'em coming!

    Right;  In order;

@cj73 He's had that on there for months.  I've looked at it before.  What's putting me off is the dark colour, the age - it's 15 years old and the lack of a hard top. That and the fact it's an Audi, which aren't the most reliable.  However, I like the looks, particularly the interior.  Captain Procrastinator awards it a 6/10.

@SouthpawMark That Honda has been on there as long as I've been looking for a car, possibly longer!  He hasn't even dropped the price!  I have looked closely at it all the same.  Again - dark colour, and wrong colour seats (i.e. black) - every other CR-Z I've seen has a much lighter interior.  Captain Procrastinator awards it a 7/10.

As for the Volvo, nope.  No estates.  Nice seats but just nope.  0/10.  Sorry.

@jaytmon That's even weirder than the Nissan Cube - and not in a nice way.  Good colour though, if a little bland;  If you're going yellow, make it a shade that attacks your eyeballs.  Negatives; the boot is almost non-existent, it's a Nissan (the only Jap brand to suffer reliability problems), the shape... makes me feel queasy, and the cum stain on the driver's seat.  3/10.

Your Merc is a surprise.  MPG is excellent - 41 at least.  It's just....  a bit big... it says "fuck off pleb, I'm important", which is not the vibe I want to give off.  Still...  a very good car.  6/10

The A3 convertible...  I test-drove one last month.  I found the height of the bar across the top of the windscreen very offputting - it was right in line with my forehead.  I didn't feel safe in it tbh.  3/10.

    Today's the day though.....  it's 08:10.  I've got probably 10 hours....
