So let's recall some well known high street stores that are no longer with us - I'll Kick off with one or two

Dewhurst's - Woolworths - Sock Shop - Tie Rack - Toys 'R' Us - Lipton's supermarket

As a kid in the 70's I recall a supermarket chain called U Save - Not sure how many branches they had or if it was just a Northern Chain - Anyone else recall it

Kwik Save, Somerfield, Fine Fare, Bejam (always referred to as "BJM" by my dad).... like your U Save, when I was a student in Bath there was a supermarket called Key Markets.  I don't know how widespread they were.

Tower Records, Virgin, Our Price, Blockbuster, John Menzies.

  • Brentford Nylons.

John Collier ( I went to a school with a John Collier and gained much pleasure from singing ‘John Collier, John Collier the window to watch’ to him; I suspect he doesn’t miss them off the high street).

Barretts of Feckenham ( not sure how country wide they were, Feckenham is quite a nice place in North Worcestershire).
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

Pratts was still there when I moved to Streatham, but closed not long after - a real old fashioned department store!  Now it's a Lidl.
