Mr Byrite - supplied most of the embarrassing clothes I wore as a yoof.

Not sure that The Works is long for this world - I've seen three shops closing down in the last month or so. Same for Jessops.

Speaking of takeaways, anyone remember Spud-u-Like? Wimpy was nearly as dismal, at least the ones near me were.
I recall losing a tooth at the age of about 10 in the Manchester Piccadilly Gardens branch of Spud-u-Like.  Much blood, maximum potato n beanz.

As for Wimpy, I swear they had a dessert named the 'Brown Derby'.  Asking for trouble...
Hah! Didn’t they do a ‘Bender in a Bun’ too? PR wasn’t their thing maybe :)

There's still a Wimpy kiosk not far from me in Stafford. The oldest Wimpy Chalet in the country, apparently. They did indeed do a Brown Derby, and they still do a Bender in a Bun. I'm sixty years old in a couple of months and have only just managed to learn to order one without giggling like a girl.
    Call me Dave.

Have I imagined that? I can’t find any reference to Trident on the internet.

I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Yup it was a carpet shop. My mum still says “Oi don’t get the Cyril dirty, take your shoes off!”

Which, of course, closed for lunch so you couldn't pay your bills in your own lunchtime.

Anybody remember Athena? I got some great posters of an oiled -up Cindy Crawford from there in the early 90s. They also had lots of posters of topless firemen holding puppies.
