Ebay £1 deals, gone?

Yesterday I received an offer for "half price variable selling fees", this was a 24hr offer valid to midnight.  Not seen that one before.
Why would I use that when 70% or 80% off tend to be fortnightly offers?  Smacks of desperation to me.

Maybe testing the waters on what’s attractive to sellers.

I got that one as well yesterday.  I think they're in over drive mode to recruit new sellers.
