    The first person the be cremated in the UK was Jesus Christ.

    Now I’ve gone and Googled it…cremation wasn’t legal in the U.K. until 1884, the first crematorium was in Woking and the first person cremated was the artist Jeanette C Pickersgill in March 1885. Only three official cremations that year although these days about 77% of U.K. funerals are cremations (hundreds of thousands of people per year).
