As a Liverpool fan I'm delighted that Skrtel will be facing Wales later on, Bale will terrorise him-has little pace and prone to fouling.

Been a great player for us over the years but age is creeping up on him.

It's the same every tournament, I go in fully hoping for England to win and believing that it could happen. Having said that, I wouldn't bet on them! I wish we had a better manager, Hodgson has been pretty clueless for my money. I didn't want him at the start, and he should have gone after the Brazil debacle. 

It's the same old England management - try and cram in the 'perceived stars' no matter what. I'm a Man U fan and I've been a big Rooney fan over the years, but it seems to me that we are playing a weird formation that no-one gets just to accommodate him. Can we just for once PLAY EVERYONE IN THEIR RIGHT POSITION!!!!!!

In the replay of the goal (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36441485 about half way down), is it me or does one of the celebrators deliberately grab another's John Thomas in the scrum. The recipient appears to show a little surprise. Between 00:18 and 00:20 in the vid.

Why is it that English fans seem to get involved in riots at most tournaments. Suggesting that 99.9% of English fans are purely football fans does not hold up. Some of the 99.9% should be able to control the 0.1%, as other nations do. It is a fairly safe bet that no Irish fans will be arrested for rioting in France. They drink the same beers and wines, probably more than the English do, yet enjoy the tournament experience.

Not to defend their actions in any way, but I think some of it could be down to them being targeted by locals.

Like I say doesn't excuse these incidents.

It's probably down to a combination of many things-chips on shoulders, the whole "2 world wars and 1 world cups we won" is sad.

there's a definite animosity towards French (and Germans, where it also went off in the WC) people in certain circles, (which I assume are part of these incidents) in England-due to the wars (100/70 years ago respectively, wankers).

Our attitude to booze and our booze culture won't help.

There were no incidents in the Brazil or SA WC's but have been in recent European competitions, which suggests pricing knobheads out works...

The thing is that on holiday abroad, you will see British/English people behaving like complete cunts out on the piss, throw in a football tournament and the cuntish behaviour is escalated and mob rule ensues and national pride is at stake (sigh) so it goes off.

Lie I said above, if the FA can't figure out why it's happening and stop these incidents then travel bans need to be in place.

To be causing this shit after all the terrorism shit in France is not only brainless it's it's possible to take up police time.

I'd say (I scientifically) that most fans out there are getting pissed of a night time, yet there is only this group of morons misbehaving in that way.

The common denominator in these incidents is being a moron and let's be honest English, not being pissed.

More clashes with England fans and police today, fucking hell. Singing anti IRA and German songs as well as the classy "stand up if you hate the French" and "fuck the EU were all voting out" according to the guardian. Reports of police being overzealous towards them too on balance.

I must admit all the hype around the Premier League is grinding me down. I probably wouldn't have renewed my season ticket if it wasn't our last season at the Lane.
