Nice colours, but the Jazzmaster seems to be a bit 'in-between' - it's like they're trying to win over both the modern and vintage crowds but failing at both

I wonder how many people they have in their design committee whose views they needed to compromise for.....

  • Mystic seafoam is a nice colour. Maple board though? Looks weeeeird.
I really like maple fretboards on Jazzmasters
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I think it'd work if it had a BWB board.

The pickup switch should either be in the normal place or closer to the point of the scratchplate though.

  • I don't abjectly dislike it, it just looks really irregular. Bet they're bloody bright, too.

Can't believe how uninteresting these are... and I loves me some offset Fenders...

These are less appealing than the Mexican/MIJ offsets. I'd take the 60s lacquer JM or Jag over this.

  • As someone with a blacktop Jazzmaster with the toggle switch on the lower half; I actually reckon that new placement is much more sensible and I'd be far less likely to keep smacking into it there.

Me too. Just wish they'd offer these colours on the AVRI

I do like the 3-way toggle switch on the Jaguars. With a rosewood fingerboard it'd look quite nice.

All the other models are available with RW fretboards according to what's been posted, so I'd be very surprised if the Jag didn't too.

It's actually a 4-way switch on this model- neck, neck & bridge parallel, bridge, neck & bridge series. The upper horn switch is a pickup phase switch. So slightly more versatile than the original switching, and quite likely simpler to use too.

Don't like the switch placement on the Jazzmaster though- I'd have preferred it where it's meant to be, but if they really had to move it up there it should at least be equidistant from the edges of the scratchplate.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

My thoughts exactly. Really odd placement. It's not even well placed up there. I wonder how many will rewire it below. I'd imagine some people might even play/strum round that area.

Hasn't the AVRI been discontinued, or did I dream that?

  • Isn't it the AV65 these days, rather than the '62 AVRI of old? Certainly on the JM. Not sure if the Jags with bound boards were also called the AV65 series or something else.

    They were indeed.

Fender seems to vary which "years" they "do" with the AVRIs now. It was '65 recently but also '59 and I think '61 as well.

Nice guitars but almost too period-accurate in some cases... I'd still prefer a flatter radius on top of all the other vintage-spec stuff. That's where the Custom Shop starts to look good... but that's probably the idea.

antique green Jag w/ rw board would be nice.
