now listen to this one and with the master lowered the amp doesnt feedback. Fast forward to the black les paul.

This is the opposite of what m talking about... i actually owned a Monza, great amp actually... but not 'bloomy'... in fact, very compressed

In regards to bloom, I had a fantastic matchless hc30r that was extra special

however, trusting the legend that is Tim Pierce, there is a demo of a wizard mcii where Tim references that amp and it's bloom and I'm not going to argue with such a legend

I've owned a Redplate CDS2 and it's the only amp where I've heard what is being described as 'bloom'.  That was at loud home volume though.  I think this characteristic is only obvious once the volume starts to climb and can't be achieved quietly...mores the pity       Other amps can achieve it I'm sure but we're talking much higher volume.
    No Darling....I've had that ages.

The first time I heard the phrase "note bloom" it was people trying to describe the characteristics of an older Gibson guitar and in a particular,  a fifties Les Paul. Not the pickup type. Not the amp. The guitar.

A sound that can be reproduced through any clean valve amp.

    What are you talking about?
His gurning was the best thing about the video. =)
Jesus, what does he think he's actually DOING?!
I dunno but it probably needs a "NSFW" tag...

@Barney - thanks mate for posting that ! Getting closer to 'bloom' !

Im thinking the volume/master intergration on the dumble/redplate style is what im after.
There is also something in the effects loop, Im guessing, a la Two Rock/RP/Dumblator...

I know Redplates do it, so I guess thats where Im heading...

If I can get a good (ie working, no hassle) Redplate, the Lazy J and cab might be up for sale !!

    This video below is poor, but RP Henry does shown the 'bloom' (or whatever it is) here;

Redplates certainly do it. I have an Aurora 34 which has the tonality and flexibility Henry showcases above. Also consider Carol Ann, which have input gain / channel gain / MV / FX loop volume options that get you there at lower volumes than the RP in my experience

Amongst the multitude of superb boutique amps I have owned over the years I would say the absolute mutts nuts was a Bruno Underground 30. Very rare in the UK. The one I had was a head with a 2x12 cab that had an alnico blue & another different speakers which I can't remember.
The best sound I've heard complete with beautiful reverb.
Some lucky bugger in France bought it. Came all the way over to collect - He knew what he was getting.

Thanks ....i think Rob has it down as a early Dualist ...it 100 watt HRM with rev and Dumbleator...it has a tweed switch that i think knocks it dow to 60 watts...its head and 2x12 cab with taydens in and diffusers....it will probably be a 1 off cos i had the choice of different tolex..grill cloth ect and what i wanted the head to look like ...Rob sent a few different options for both the amp and cab....its a lively sounding amp ...you cant really capture it on a phone mic though

  • For crying out loud

    HIWATT!!!
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
