This is cool. Never really listened to him before, but he's got a killer voice and the guitar playing is sweet as well. Sound is hilariously 80s.

1:43 - dive-bombing harmonics with a clean tone? Awesome :D Actually sounds musical, which is the important thing.

I want to know who the guitar player is. EDIT: Found out, I think it's Pete Glenister.

Symphony or Damn, the album he realised in 1993 to little fanfare is one of my fav albums of all time, certainly in the pop field, it's awesome.

Wrap your ears around this tune as an example.

You are right. The voice is outstanding. And there is plenty more besides.
I can't remember exactly what happened but he should have been much bigger for much longer....

( boringly) I'd have to say I prefer the Sam Cooke version but TTD had a great voice. Currently residing in the where are they now file. [ Terence, fairly sure Sam is dead]

    Opeth are fucking great.

My favourite by them is Watershed, have you heard that? Blackwater Park is often cited as their best, but I enjoy Watershed a lot more. Great meeting point between their old death metal style and the more melodic 70s-inspired prog sound they've adopted recently.

Also, you know what, today I've been listening to Silencer.

"Death - Pierce Me" is still a very unsettling listen, but I've made it through the whole album now and have sort of desensitized myself to it. It's not as terrifying as I remember, it scared the living daylights out of me when I first heard it but I think that was partly because I didn't know what to expect. Now I do know what to expect, of course, and it's been easier to get to grips with.

@reverend I guess you can say "I told you so" :D

I also listened to this album, to which Silencer's sound is often compared... these are some fucking strange vocals too.

I mean... vocally, he's an absolute powerhouse, he shrieks, growls, cackles and gargles like some kind of sadistic, unhinged werewolf. He channels pure, demented fury better than any metal vocalist I've ever heard... I'm not going to pretend it's pleasant to listen to though :D

Now I'm listening to Silencer vocalist Nattramn's more recent project, Diagnose: Lebensgefahr... it's kind of cool actually.

Bit of a change from Terence Trent d'Arby isn't it...

I've been listening to a lot of John Garcia - Slo Burn, Hermano, Vista Chino and his solo album.  They're not hugely different from each other but they are all good.
