"Waking Up the Neighbours" - Bryan Adams.

Honestly, I think if I knew no better and someone told me that "Don't Drop That Bomb on Me" was a "lost" Def Leppard song from the Hysteria era that didn't make the album, I'd believe them.

    But that's why I love it. :)

Dylan. World Gone Wrong. He's really on form with this one.

Dog Man Star is a great album. One of those where the writer's situation, chemical intake, influences (Bowie!) and band associates all come together to make something greater than the individual parts. I think Dylan called the process capturing lightning in a jar.

Took a bit of a high-priced gamble on Amazon and grabbed Tribal for <£5.

I'm remaining fascinated by Viv Albertine and The Slits. I remember The Slits were semi regulars in Sounds 30 + years ago but I am fairly sure I'd never actually heard them before this year. Viv seems to have picked up where the band left off. I thought I'd go for something short and unseasonal with oral sex references to include on here

I really, really enjoyed Viv's book and her recent songs strongly relate to that. Can't be many people writing and performing songs about being a middle aged female divorcee. Whilst I'm here I'll throw this in, which is part of the fascination, which is the song Mick Jones wrote about splitting up from Viv. Being the subject of a Clash song is a particularly cool kind of fame.

The new Dead Letter Circus album gets my seal of approval. They don't break any new grounds. The songs probably won't get stuck in your head. But it's worth putting it on in the car and turning it up loud because there's a lot going on in there. I like the way bands like DLC do something that's kind of atmospheric and spacey but also heavy and punishing (without the blood curdling vocals that sound like someone being punched repeatedly in the guts while someone sticks a hand down their throat trying to pry out their vocal chords.

"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

    Cheers. :)

We've been experimenting with Apple Music at work and it lets you send a text with a link to a track or album / artist so easily. He just sent it to me randomly and I've been listening to them all week since. It's cool fun to listen too. :)

Time Traders by The Peter Green Splinter Group. Had forgotten quite how tasty PG's playing is. Nothing technically difficult or too showy but just so soulful. Lots of Freddie King influences in there. Nice.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

A lot of the lead guitar on that album will be Nigel Watson rather than PG.

Have you seen the live stuff? That will tell you all need to know about PG's ability at that time.
