Ha ha, indeed. Fender introduces the Inappropriatejokecaster - 70s Reissue.
Bliss in my naivety I guess.....
I'm not a Brazilian woman, so the implied objectification by a major corporation on a high audience channel does not make me feel a 'step out of the room' sensation, but I do see it as tone-deaf, understand, respect and empathise with the sentiment.
There is place for humour, even dated and potentially contentious humour, but an international marketing channel of a corporate leader is not it. What does it communicate to the young followers, boys and girls?
I get that Fender didn't put a 'A pair of Brazilian women' in the post, but it's not out of order to accept that that's what was implied. To defend otherwise is like saying that 'trial by combat' and 'show strength' don't actually mean 'invade the capitol'. I get it, it's not, defense of the pedants. It's just that certain things stir up real sentiments in people, and I think that's why some kind of language is called dogwhistling, some hear it, some don't.
They are right to pull it and right to apologise.
Fitting for a company peddling instruments designed in the 50s and 60s.
Also, how are they Brazilians? Was it the fingerboard? Because Fender don't have a Brazil factory. This just reeks of some sweaty bloke getting a bit excited at an innuendo.
Offensive? Not really. But it is crass and stupid and Fender need to be better. Tone deaf - how appropriate for a company that sells the Blues Junior

They do actually seem to have Brazilian rosewood necks mind you (so it wasn't totally random) - Fender may have deleted their post, but as it was a repost the original is still there on the Custom Shop Instagram.
Jim Mattis gave the president his daily briefing. He concluded by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."
"OH NO!" Donald Trump exclaimed. "That's terrible!"
His staff sat stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watched as the President sat, head in hands.
Finally, the President looks up and asked, "How many is a brazillion?"

Can people be more considerate? Absolutely. But we’re kind of relying on the basic lowest common denominators that gorge on soap operas and Saturday night TV, whose only want in life is to get pissed with their shitty mates in their shitty local and ogle and gesture towards the barmaids and unsuspecting punters that happen to be fresh meat to actually have a brain that isn’t firmly rooted in their genitalia. That feels like a big ask.
(I was just thinking of that one too!)
Reported for cruelty to the common apostrophe.
I am offended.
