At LCD on Saturday a couple of people had the audacity to push their way in front of me (I was in the second row) and basically shout into each other's ears for the rest of the gig
Well, they've just landed the opening slot for the forthcoming Deep Purple/Europe Tour and so I'll be off to one of those shows.
Never lose sight of your dreams and it's never too late. These guys have some pedigree with the average band age around mid-50s and this is a fairly new-ish project but it's all happening for them and they've already supported Thunder, played Cropredy, Ramblin' Man and Hyde Park in the last year.
Recommended!
Nice bit of contrast, excited about both.
Dare were great and Vinny Burns was on fire with a Les Paul, but there were many other excellent British bands that weren't household names, like Blood Red Saints and Iconic Eye but look out for Aaron Buchanan and The Cult Classics. The guy has an amazing voice and is a very good showman and there are many similarities to Freddie Mercury in both stage craft and voice but he's got a cracking band behind him.
The standard of musicianship was high and most of the guitarists and sounds were staggeringly good, and the players were so young!!!
Ibanez, Jackson, Charvel, Suhr and both Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls seemed to be the order of the day on the guitar front and there were a fair few Kempers on display.
A bit of a trek for me and my mates but we were truly taken back to the 80s. The event is really well done and the main venue is a great size. The sound guys delivered a great sound in there and I've just heard that the sound at Shepherd's Bush, London tonight for the Nightranger and Skid Row gig was a bit pants - shame as it was great at HRH.
Recommended venue, whether for this or the Prog or any other HRH events.
Next, I'm looking forward to Toto on the 1st April at The Royal Albert Hall
Iron maiden some time after June or July
Yeah I'm not big on details apparently
After that, it's Chameleons Vox at Esquires, Bedford, in June.
I said maybe.....
Edit: @lasermonkey they are also playing Bedford, this Thursday. Get yourself down there!
JM build | Pedalboard plans
Then Marillion in April at Bham Symphony Hall and IQ at The Robin in May
Then A Perfect Circle @ Brixton in June.
Both promise to be cracking gigs!
