Right....  I've had a titsfull of this bloody Civic.

It has to be the most uncomfortable car I've ever driven and the "suspension" has as much give as a concrete post.  I can feel every tiny bump in the road.  I hit a big pothole the other week and the bang was so violent, I was amazed the wheel was still attached to the car and my teeth stayed put.

I can't live with this any longer.

    I need comfort!

What car do I get now?

    That's the spirit!
It's good to see this thread up and running again.

I saw a Volvo S60 in the office car park last week.  Nice looking motor.  Reviews unfortunately criticise the ride quality, but the S80 gets lauded for it.  Not sure I need anything that big though.

So... my criteria this time are: Comfort.  Fuel economy.  Er... that’ll do for now!
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

You won't like this, but the answer is...

    A hydraulic-suspension Citroën.

Absolutely the most comfortable rough-surface car ride there is - or was, sadly they don't make them any more. The last production model was the C5 as far as I know, and only some models.

Somebody has lol'd this but it is actually a very good suggestion. Rover 75's were very well built and if you avoid the K series petrol engines which were prone to overheating and go for the 2 litre BMW diesel it would be a good buy. They are gaining a big following amongst classic car owners and the club for these is the fastest growing car club. The 2 litre diesel has no DPF's or EGR's to worry about either.
