Lot 72 Dusty Rose Fender Strat Plus - given as a gift from Fender CS

    Sold $80,000
This one suprised me the most - in and of itself it's not really interesting is it? (or am I missing something).

The stuff so far has had some interesting fact, this was "given to him by fender, and it's a pink colour"

I'm watching it but I'm a registered bidder - not at these prices tho!

There's a lot of people will have to sit on these guitars for many years to get money back, $90,000 + buyers fees + import duty is madness for a EC Strat especially at the current exchange rate

I am watching but I seem to have a paddle number.  Not sure how as I am definitely not bidding.

I tried to paste the link but it was coming up with invalid credentials.

This is where I was able to join the auction.  I stumbled across it when I was looking for the Picasso Ceramics auction.

Intrigued as to who TF is buying these at such astonishing prices.  While you'd imagine 4 or 5 of them going for stupid money the consistency of colossal amounts of wonga is surprising.

I think someone must be buying them for breeding.

The prices are bizarre. It would be interesting to see what the Gilmour premium is for these guitars.

What is astonishing is the random acoustics fetching silly money

I don’t know if it’s a good thing, but suddenly all the auctions I’m watching on eBay seem very very cheap ...

On the podcast he talks a bit about the dichotomy of selling the tools of his trade but also the good that the money would do.
I think he will be slightly embarrassed at the prices.  Takamine acoustics going for $55,000 must be $54,750 of the DG factor

I agree with @Gassage, some you kind of understand - even the 57V Strat which just went for $170,000 - played by George Harrison and David Gilmour has some swing.

But very bog standard early 2000's Takamine guitars going for $42,000 plus all the other costs - strange
