In answer to the original question, for those that follow various guitar channels and artists on social media/ YouTube, there is definitely more buzz around PRS at the moment. Think it probably started with the silver sky but it’s moved on from that.

I may or may not be posting a new (old) PRS guitar day soon...
Maybe people are looking for something other than Gibson following the Agnesi video.
Yeah I can see that. I’ve always been a Gibson player but shit like that play authentic video made me a bit embarrassed. That plus all the random overpriced signature models they keep coming out with, inconsistent QC etc just shows how out of touch they are. I’m more interested in PRS who don’t fuck about and just make great guitars. Also, to me they have more character and “mojo” than the boutique Suhr, Anderson etc too who just make boring looking fender copies.

  • I found this Tim Pierce video interesting:

    Interesting indeed.
Not long until somebody on here watches this video and posts  'I know it sounds and plays exactly like a holy grail '59 burst for a tiny fraction of the price but birds'??

Is there any point owning a PRS without birds?

It’s like owning a Ferrari but taking the prancing horse off the bonnet.

Absolutely there is. I’m not into the bird inlays, dots look better to me.

Im now onto my second PRS having avoided them for all of my playing career. There’s something about them that just feels “right” to me in a way a Gibson doesn’t. I wish I’d have found them earlier.

Yes, the moons are some of the nicest inlays ever used on a guitar - all my ones had them. If I ever own another it will too.

I would never own a PRS with birds.

As much as I love my Custom 22, I'm gassing for one of the 2020 McCarty's

  • I have an SE with moons, and an SE with birds. I honestly don't give two shits. It's not like I see them when playing.

That's lovely. Guitars4You had a very similar one at the Birmingham show this year, if memory serves (apologies if it doesn't!).

Everyone needs a metallic-topped P90 equipped guitar in their life :)

I've just bought a 10 top Wood Library 594 SC.

Always loved PRS from seeing my first one in an advert In Guitarist.  They appeal to me more than any Strat ever could.

  • Enjoy your new 594. A good investment, indeed.  NGD post?

As a teenager growing up in the 90’s I honestly cannot remember PRS adverts in Total Guitar Magazine, perhaps they were only used in Guitarist/Guitar Techniques and not their little brother.

I think it was just in Guitarist.

    And it was this one...

  • I've used a MiM Fender Stratocaster, a Gibson Les Paul Studio and a Japanese Jackson Soloist but I've found that if I buy a PRS SE Custom 24 and put a decent set of pickups in it, I have a guitar that is far better than any of them. In terms of bang for your buck, they're easily the best I've ever tried and I wouldn't use anything else, fashionable or otherwise but we're all different and it's horses for courses. Just because I love them, it doesn't mean anyone else has to :)
