As a teenager growing up in the 90’s I honestly cannot remember PRS adverts in Total Guitar Magazine, perhaps they were only used in Guitarist/Guitar Techniques and not their little brother.

I think it was just in Guitarist.

    And it was this one...

These were ads that caught my attention as a youngster. These and I think Carvin did some similar. Nice finishes on nicely figured timber.
I'm always looking for interesting USA Hamers for sale.

At the moment I'm looking for:
    * Hamer Watson, SS2, Vintage S, T62.
    * Music Man Luke 1, Luke II

    Please drop me a message.

  • I’ve never owned a PRS until my recent ‘87 Custom 24 purchase... not really sure why tbh.. anyway I can happily say that the question I keep asking myself is why it took me so long.. it seems like the guitars I’ve always been looking for may have been hidden in plain sight! I’ve got a DGT to have a mess with at the mo and strangely enough it seems equally awesome!

I found this Tim Pierce video interesting:
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tqI2TJvCxJI
Interesting.  I see they've gone back to vintage-style tuners (but with slightly odd-looking ivory coloured buttons) and they now have a "nitro over cellulose" finish (across the whole core range?).

It gets ever closer.  I'm holding out for the relics...

Never tried a 594, I would like to.  I want to see what the pattern vintage neck profile is like.

  • As I type this, 4 of top 5 threads in recent discussions are PRS NGD threads.

    The people have spoken.......

  • @Philly_Q the 594s are crazy good, I finally tried a few in guitarguitar the other week and they all had something really special going on. My favourite of the lot was the normal 594 d/c, they also had a HB version and a singlecut model there too. I’m going to have one of these some day for sure!

594s are brilliant - the scale length change and LT pickups really add something a little extra to the feel and vibe.

  • Yep, the LTs have some serious mojo! The neck profile's a beaut too - the assymetric aspect is relatively subtle, but incredibly comfortable in use.

When I first heard they'd introduced the new pattern vintage neck profile, I was very pleased to hear it's a little fatter (wide fat and/or pattern are still rather slimline as far as I'm concerned) but I'm a bit apprehensive about the asymmetric aspect.

I've had two guitars with asymmetric profiles.  A Music Man Axis Sport which I liked, although the neck as a whole was too small.  And a Burny LP Junior, which probably was never meant to have an asymmetric profile but felt really weird to me and I just couldn't get on with it (@Twinfan ended up with that one, for a while! ).

With talk in this thread of PRSPride, perhaps it's time to bring this beauty up? Apologies for out-of-date linky.

That would not be to my taste but as I mentioned above, inclusivity is important.

That's garish.   Worse still, the colours are in the wrong order.  I could never get one of those as it would annoy me every time I looked at it.

Fits the bill but I don’t think I’d be particularly proud to play that!

It’s really quite subtle, I’m not sure I’d have even noticed it if I hadn’t already seen the product blurb!

Just bought my first PRS, an S2 Singlecut Satin. I love it. Easily the most comfortable neck I’ve ever played and the build quality is superb for the price point.

Nicest satin finish I’ve ever seen by far as well.

I actually quite like the Prism finish - though I accept it's not to everyones' taste ;)

  • In an ocean of brown and beige guitars PRS are a tropical island of colour and interest.

Biggest request made of PRS guitars...
” can you do ones that are more boring to look at...?”
