Parked in a parent and child bay. Attendant came out of his office, and in his most sarcastic voice said “you do realise these spaces are reserved for parents with children don’t you?” No doubt assuming I parked there because it was closest to the shops.
”Yes”, I replied, as he stood at the back of my car, starting to take the registration details.
so I opened the boot, took out the pram, opened the rear door and took Genevieve out of her seat. “Look, a child!”. At that point he trudged off without even a word of apology.
I once had a similar thing in a car park when I was going to pick up one of my kids, when they were all quite small - I was shouted at by a woman in another car who said I shouldn't be parking there as it was a parent and child space and didn't I know how difficult it was to find a space to get her two kids in and out of her car?
So I asked her to get out and come and look at the *three* child seats in the back of mine. She drove off in a huff.
But men know nothing about looking after small children, of course...

First up, the Sabrecut worked a treat - literally a minute or so was all it took to cut through the ball-end bolts. A bit of using a kitchen blowtorch to heat up the remainder of the bolt and melt the glue and then 30 seconds' work with the socket wrench solved the problem. There was a bit of glue left in the threads and the new bolts were a really tight fit, so a bit more heat from the blowtorch (to simultaneously melt the remaining glue and heat the threat to a bit of expansion), and...new bolt in. New struts went in perfectly, although they're slightly shorter than the OEM ones so the boot doesn't open quite as far as it did.
In any case, the boot now opens on its own with almost zero effort. Job well done.
Eventually.
I can see a battle ahead. I’m not going to be popular with my new bosses but... I’m not working extra hours for fuck-all!
