A few of my favourites already mentioned (Dogs, No Woman No Cry, Kid Charlemagne) but I am surprised that no-one has mentioned Glen Tilbrook on 'Another Nail in My Heart' by Squeeze. That's often cited in threads like this, and deservedly so IMO.

Yngwie's Fade out solo on the Alcatrazz 'Suffer Me' track

Also Yngwie on dragonfly is amazing. The middle solo and the fade out solo, both wonderful.

Now you mention it, this is the guitar solo that sets the standard for all other guitar solos. Nothing come close to be being the greatest. It was my favourite for years, then kinda went out of fashion. But my favourite of today remains Syd’s efforts I mentioned earlier.

It is a belter, although it was actually ripped off from Ace Frehley’s solo from She, who in turn had ripped it off from Robbie Krieger’s solo from Five to One.

Most famous for the wonderful fuzzy melodic solos on The Carpenters Goodbye To Love. Possibly the first power ballad.

I always put a shout out for john mcgeogh for Shot by Both Sides in these type of debates.

Surprised of no mention of Randy Rhoads for the solos on Mr Crowley.

Have always adored this little number by Ed Brady on Gil’s Gun

Sadly a song that has never lost its relevance in nearly 40 years now.

    Solo at about 2.10

Excellent choice, but allegedly not recorded in one take or by just one guitarist. Could be an internet myth, but a cracking solo none the less.

On the other extreem I like 'My Best Friends Girl' by the cars/Elliot Easton. Simple and melodic, just fits the song well and is gone.

Always loved what Slash did in November Rain....not the most technical but perfectly suited to the song. Epic video solo to boot!

Yes Tony was a fine player i learnt the two solos in Goodbye to Love are much fun to play, i play an extended version of the outro that is a fine solo to improvise with like Maggot Brain is as well.
