My favourite festival finds from 2000 Trees - The Dirty Nil, Tigercub and Dinosaur Pile-Up. Good stuff. They all sounded huge live. Especially the dirty nil - both the bassist and front man were using superleads and it sounded awesome.

Anyone heard of Lewis Taylor? Probably not but the guy was championed by many top artists and the few albums he put out were met with critical acclaim.

Anyway, his clips were taken down from YT, especially live footage, but they're back up again (2 clips from Jools in the mid-90s) but it made me listen to that first album. He's a funky, soulful, psychedelic/Jimi, Marvin Gaye bit of genius who deserved so much more and having seen him live, he was absolutely fabulous.

Last I heard, he was MD and bass player for Gnarls Barkley and one his tracks, "Lovelight" ended up on a Robbie Williams' album and was a single.

    - Live on Jools

    Album tracks
    - good place to start

Pulp - His'n'Hers. Great record imo. Jarvis in incredible form before he took the Sainsbury's voiceover dollar. :)

Well, this thing came on the radio today and I thought it was absolutely excellent. If you'd have told me 9 minutes of David Gray was coming up I'd have probably turned over as well. Moral in there somewhere.

    Leaf Hound "Growers of Mushroom"

No I'd never heard of them either but one of the tracks came up on Spotify in the pub the other day. Released in 1971 but actually recorded in 1970. The band had actually split up before the album was released. Vocalist Peter French went on to Atomic Rooster. He reformed Leaf Hound some years ago. I'm not sure how many of the original members are in it; from what video footage I've seen - not many. Apparently original vinyl copies of the album now fetch several thousand Pounds.

One day I'm going to make a guitar out of butter to experience just how well it actually plays.

Newton Faulkner's new tune "Hit the Ground Running"

Hard to hear it properly in this video, check it out on iTunes.

His guitar work is always interesting, as is his production. I really like the sound of this new album after being disappointed with everything following "Write it on your Skin"

This is the other side of me that likes things a bit more mellow. Listening to lots of Newton, Seth Lakeman, Kim Churchill and some other similar things.

Really like it. Grooves well at speed with great vocal delivery.

Most enjoyable listen since Organic Halluicnosis. There have been good tracks on Carnival is Forever/Blood Mantra but I honestly think Anticult is a stronger album overall.

Yes the style isn't the same but anyone who cares about that could just go listen to the earlier stuff instead of clogging up the YouTube comments sections...

The new Kenny Wayne Shepherd album. Unfortunately, very pedestrian. :(

Boston by Boston.  Haven't heard it for years and forgot how much I like this stuff.  Great rhythms and lead work.  Guess I'm still an old rocker at heart.

Arc Angels self titled one and only album from the early 90s. Twin guitars of Doyle Bramhall and Charlie Sexton are great. Some of the songs are bit generic blues rock though. Still, good fun and down to earth.
